HeyThere I think it happen just as much to boys as will as girls. The reason I say that is I am a victim and I know of about 4 other men who are victims of sexual abuse while in the cult. My wife and I raised to boys and we was told by community effort on this subject that boy's were just as big a target as was girls. Those who abuse children are very sick people. In my opinion they should all be but to death. But I am prejudice on this subject. I just know to well what happens to a person who is abused as a child. CultBgone you are very brave to talk about this. Remember those who are brave enough to talk about what happen to them are very heroic people. They are survivors and deserve a voice in this matter. Silentlamb even though it is hard to read provides that voice. Thank you for this thread. Still Totally ADD

Just Read Silentlamb.com For the First Time
by HeyThere ini am feeling so emotional right now.
crazy doctrines aside, these child abuse cover-ups are horrendous.
add them together and i feel like there is a churning black hole sucking the souls out of these children.. now, i realize there are boys who were abused as well, but i get this overwhelming feeling that girls/women are simply not valued and/or taken seriously or accused of being liars or demonic or, even worse, viewed as a harlot, whore, or temptress in the majority of situations, no matter the age or the brutality of the rape.

It's been years now that I don't have to worry about going out in field service on Sat. morning or to any meetings during the week or studying the Wt. or some book that repeats over and over again the big A is just around the corner. Still Totally ADD

How long have you been an online "apostate?"
by Faithful Witness ini really do not like that word (apostate), as used to represent someone who decided to remove themselves, or was removed from the influence of the watchtower... but i am curious.. how long have websites like these been in existence?
when did this movement begin?.
personally, how long did it take for you to dare exploring information outside the watchtower publications, about jehovah's witnesses (especially online)?.

My awaking began in 2004. I was doing Temp work at Bethel. I could not understand why so many empty buildings. The ones that was still there was just maintaning them. There was in my eyes no use for these buildings. They was not being used for anything. That ate at me for couple of years. Then I found out I suffered with ADD all my life. So after I started treatment my mind was opening up to understanding and thinking. I started question things. I was watching a show on the history channel about archeology and showing the layers of earth that showed what took place in the past. They was able to show times of extreme weather to asteriods hitting the earth by the dust levels. One thing they brought out was there was no evidence of a global flood. It was not in the earth layers of dirt. That made me start thinking if that is true then what the Wt. taught about the flood was false and if that was false what other teachings of thiers was false. I soon talk to my wife about this and to my surprise she gave me information on this subject from the internet. She was also waking up on her own about the same time I was. Not much time went by when I started visiting this site but it did take almost 2 years of lurking before I signed up as Totally ADD. I believe that was in Jan. of 2009. I was still the PO in our congregation. It took some time but in Jan. of 2011 we was both free from the cult. The only reason I am Still Totally ADD is because my computer died and it took me about 8 months to get another one and by then I could not remember my past word or anything so I just signed up again as Still Totally ADD. That's the story. Still Totally ADD

How did HQ handle the increase of new JWs leading up to 1975?
by Zoos inthis new donation arrangement under the pretense that so many new halls are needed to accommodate the worldwide increase has me wondering.
the numbers in the current annual reports don't show anywhere near the increase as there was leading up to the 1975 debacle.
so how did the gb of the time handle a genuine need for more kingdom halls?.

It was not in the cards to build new Kingdom Halls. After all the big A was coming, why do we need to build anything? After 1975 came and went talk started about building new Halls that is were the quick build came from and rest is history. Anyway that's what I remember. Still Totally ADD

Another Gem from the Golden Pen of the Faithful Slave
by Slidin Fast inlook at this pile of steaming horse sh*t. this is meant to soften the horror of this god of war destroying 7,000,000,000 men, women and children in a holy jihad.
draw close book p 65 .
19 consider an illustration: suppose that a mans family was being attacked by a vicious animal and that the man jumped into the fray and killed the violent beast.

How Do Elders Feel About Their Position In The 21st Century?
by minimus inwhen i was appointed as an elder, i was very proud of my accomplishment in the theocracy and actually believed that jehovah god appointed me and that i would prove to be an excellent society man and maybe even make it to circuit overseer!.
how silly, huh??.
fast forward to 35 years later, and i wonder how many appointed men truly love their positions and duties.. any appointed men want to give their opinion on that?

minimus I truly thought I would be able to make things better for all in the kingdom hall. But I might as well drove nails into my eyes. It would have been less painless. All the things we had to do. Treated like you was being paid to to this. I know serveral retired preachers who get a small pension for their service. And I think boy that would have been great to have gotten something like that. But no I was to dumb and truly believe you had to do all this for free. The system that is set up is to high controlled from the top-down. Don't think for one minute what you hear from the stage is coming from one elder it is drilled into them to follow those outlines to a Tee. If they veer from it you can tell in a instant. It is one of the most thank less jobs out there. Yes I know there are those who are on a big ego trip but for the sincere ones they will be chewed up and spit out. Still Totally ADD

last big convention-last memorial buzz
by scotoma inare others hearing this meme from speakers at their congregation?.
is it a newspeak technique for instilling a sense of urgency?.
if it is - it's more manipulative than 1975. it seems like a way of getting around over use of the word "soon", "just around the corner".. maybe after 100 years of waiting they feel they need to approach it from another angle.. i should mention that the qualifier "may" is added "this may be our last___________________ fill in the blank.. lots of wiggle room.

You are so right LisaRose in what you said. My father died 5 years ago this June, my mother is in a nursing home with her mind gone. Yet from the time they came in 1953 they was told they would never grow old and die. Their children would never go to school. This old system may be gone or surely over with in just a few years. Will here it is 2014 and life keeps going on. Their generation almost gone and their children generation getting pretty long in the tooth. This is the hold cults know how to use best.
